Anglers ages 6 through 15 are invited to compete in the 11th Annual I.G.F.A. free Young Angler Tournament Aug. 3 at the Shelter Island Pier, 1776 Shelter Island Dr. This saltwater event is sponsored by the San Diego Sportfishing Council, the International Game Fish Association and the Port of San Diego.
Registration for the Shelter Island Pier Tournament begins at 7:30 with fishing from 9 a.m. to noon. Prizes will be awarded by 1 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, and sodas will be served to all registered anglers. Lunch is provided courtesy of Stump's Village Market of Rancho Santa Fe and Tommy Gomes from Catalina Offshore Products and Specialty Produce. The San Diego Sportfishing Council is a California non-profit corporation established in 1979 which represents San Diego’s sportfishing industry. Its mission is to promote San Diego sportfishing as an attractive marine recreational activity, increase awareness of sportfishing opportunities from San Diego Bay, increase the availability of "how, when and where" information and access to sportfishing opportunities.
