Twilight Fishing with Phil fun tonight on the Enterprise

Great times last night on the Fishing with Phil Twilight Trip on board the Enterprise out of Long Beach Marina Sportfishing. It could not have been a more lovely night with calm seas and very little wind after sunset.

As usual, Captain Frank Savino, deckhand Nick Kim and Jeff in the Galley made everyone feel right at home and worked hard to put us on fish. We looked at an area on 20-30 minutes from departure with white terns picking at baitfish. Those terns will rat a school of barracuda out every time. It looked juicy and Savino was metering scattered gar but the toothy gamefish pulled a no show.

We anchored on several wrecks including the airplane; a spot where a plane had crashed in the 1940’s. Some nice calico and sand bass were taken along with some great eating rockfish. Anglers were using lighter line and a strip of squid for good results.

Art Soriano from Phil Friedman Outdoors was on board and helped a really nice young couple have a memorable night. It was their first time on the water and they sacked up several nice rockfish, some sand bass and lost a really big fish that acted a lot like a halibut. They also took home a brand new tackle box from Phil Friedman Outdoors.

Bass Underground provided some of their new t-shirts as prizes. What great designs they have as Deborah Felix was thrilled with her new shirt. “I will wear it proudly,” she exclaimed.

The weather forecast is for a beautiful night tonight so we will be after the barracuda until sunset and then looking for bass after that. Make a cast if you know how or if you are new to fishing, simply drop your lure down to the bottom. Retrieve at a medium speed. If you get a bite, just keep turning the handle of your reel to set the hook.
